What we are Saying
“ The “Natural” sang by Imagine Dragons left a deep impression on people. The lyrics show that people don't gloss over the cruel and dark side of reality, but they also convey a kind of unyielding positive to the audience. Here we have three minutes of "Blue Hydrangea" flavored music that shows the well balanced melodic rhythm. The contrasts in mood are very well handled. It is a rousing number that exudes rhythmic intensity and power. This exciting, delicate arrangement brings out a sense of hope and positive energy, and audience will enjoy the harmonious singing of Betty, the beautiful melody performed by Edward and rhythmic beats of the b-box player Peter. ”

“They gathered together simply because of their affection to music, but dedicated in producing impressive and innovative masterpieces. Frankly, I have never seen such an unusual trio, consisting of a singer with euphonia voice, a talented and adept pianist, and an expressive beatboxer. The truth was that they moved and shocked almost all of us ever since their debut on a Christmas Eve. Each of their notes was like drumbeats beating on the deepest part of my soul that caused my involuntarily shed tears. They continued working on new pieces and sometimes it even took them whole semester preparing for a single song. I was astonished by their dedication and resolution on the things they loved, and I hold the belief that they have the potential to make a sensation one day.”

“ Their cover of Natural by Imagine Dragons had always been one of my favs, but I believe the show was kinda tough for them. It was all fantastic at first, but it turns out that the mic for one of the members had a serious problem, so the performance had to go on without the beats. And as far as I’m concerned, beats are especially crucial in the case of this song. But, well, an accident is an accident, the show had to go on, and (surprisingly) the school don’t have an extra microphone, so this whole beat-based song is suddenly forced into an acoustic version. I could tell that even the crowds were nervous for them, but somehow, they still managed to get the show going. In fact, the show went pretty well: without the company of beats, vocal stood out, making a powerful illustration of the song. It’s like recomposing a symphony to a concerto successfully, an unexpected change, but thrilling nonetheless.”

“ Simply applying only three elements, the band presented to us an unexpected new version of the song, which elevated its original effect into a completely new level. The accompaniment was reduced down into a melancholy and delicate piano arrangement of the main melody, but still conveyed its own sense of power, like a monologue of a tragic hero facing his/her doomed fate. It supported the song without being covered up by the lead singer’s powerful voice, which by itself was also an unique performance full of personality and emotion. The human beatbox skillfully created sound effect that highly resembled the electronic beats. Together the three elements produced a successful adaption of the original song while conquering the audience with its own astounding originality. Just like the lyrics said, as if they were “Born natural”.
